Some Commonly-Asked Questions

Potential customers ask us these questions often, so we've compiled a short Q&A.

Why should I pre-plan?

Pre-planning ensures that your family knows your exact wishes. It simplifies the process when you're gone and relieves your loved ones of the significant burdens of uncertainty,  The questions we ask in our Pre-Planning Questionnaire are typically not found in Wills or Trusts. For more information, see our blog, “What is Pre-Planning and What is a Pre-Planning Questionnaire?

What documents can I upload?

You can securely store important documents like your Will, Trust, Lease, Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, Deed, Passport, and other important papers and photographs.  The free storage limits we provide will generally suffice, but if you want to upload additional documents or photographs, additional storage is available at nominal cost.  For more information, see our FAQ #15, “How many documents can you upload to your secure, encrypted storage?

How is security ensured?

Your information is stored in a password-protected, encrypted storage area. Data is backed up daily.  Our entire website was custom-written with your security at the forefront.  Our site is not built on a Wordpress, Wix (or other CMS) theme. One important feature we required in our specification to our developers is that we (i.e., FamilyAndHeirs.com admin) must have no way to view your confidential information.  We have absolutely no desire to see your confidential information and we have absolutely no ability to do so from our admin panel. For more information, see our blog, “Online Security for your Information and Data.

How can my family access my files?

When you open an account, we will provide you with two different passwords.  The first is your account password, which provides full access to you.  The second password you will receive is your Read-Only password.  You can provide this special Read-Only password to trusted heirs, allowing them to view all your answers and your documents, but without the ability to make any changes.

How often can I update?

You can log into your account at any time to update your answers and documents. Regular updates ensure that your information stays current.

What is the cost of the service?

The annual subscription fee is just $49. This low fee ensures peace of mind for both you and your family.
